Virgin Australia and Surf Life Saving partner to promote surf safety this summer

Virgin Australia and Surf Life Saving have joined forces to raise awareness of the importance of surf safety for both international and domestic tourists on our beaches, following a number of drowning tragedies in Australian beaches and pools this season.

On average, over 12,000 rescues are performed by 44,323 dedicated, volunteer surf lifesavers each summer. Over 60,000 Nippers are taught vital surf safety skills and will grow into the next generation of surf lifesavers. Educating tourists and children in essential water safety plays a vital role in preventing drownings across our beaches and backyard pools.

Surf Life Saving Australia’s CEO Brett Williamson OAM, said it is imperative the beachgoing public heed surf safety messages.

Brisbane Airport gives wings to CareFlight

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) and RACQ CareFlight have announced a new partnership which will see BAC become a major sponsor of the not-for-profit community rescue helicopter service.

As part of the new affiliation BAC will reimburse all landing fees at Brisbane Airport equalling up to $20,000 per year.

RACQ CareFlight CEO, Ashley van de Velde, said he is excited to have Brisbane Airport on board.

Virgin Money Giving sees massive increase in marathon sponsorship

In its second year as the main sponsorship website behind the Virgin London Marathon, Virgin Money Giving has reported the amount raised has increased by more than two-thirds on its 2010 figures.

The upstart fundraising sponsorship website saw £13.88m – including gift aid - raised on its pages as a result of the marathon this year, up from £8.3m in its first year of operation.
