China Southern’s three year Sydney Festival sponsorship

China Southern Airlines has signed on as the sponsor for the Sydney Festival for the next three years and believes Australia is on the cusp of a travel boom that will see one million Chinese visiting Australia by 2020.

On the eve of Sydney Festival’s Symphony in the Domain, Executive Vice President of China Southern Air Holding Company and President and CEO of China Southern Airlines, Mr Tan Wan’geng made the announcement of the continued sponsorship, saying that the airline saw Australia as an important source of travellers to China and the rest of the world on its global network.

China Southern Airlines new major international sponsor for Sydney Festival

Sydney Festival’s first major international sponsorship was announced by NSW Premier and Minister for Western Sydney, The Hon. Barry O’Farrell, in Guangzhou today, with China Southern Airlines joining Sydney Festival as a Leadership Partner.

China Southern will be the Official Airline for Sydney Festival 2012 and will co-sponsor The Domain Concert Series, featuring the free outdoor concerts Summer Sounds and Symphony in The Domain, alongside co-sponsor ANZ. The Airline’s other associations include the Ferrython on Sydney Harbour on Australia Day.

Mr O’Farrell said he was delighted with the agreement, “This is the most significant international sponsorship ever obtained by Sydney Festival and the first by a Chinese company.
