LA Galaxy and Herbalife announce 10-year extension LA Galaxy and Herbalife have announced a record 10-year extension, marking the largest sponsorship agreement for a Major League Soccer club in league history.

The two parties announced that the new agreement is valued at over 44 million US Dollars. This includes one million US Dollars for the joint community program benefiting Children's Institute, Inc.

"The 2011 MLS Cup-Champion LA Galaxy and Herbalife announced today a record 10-year extension to their existing agreement that will see the global nutrition company continue as the official presenting sponsor and jersey sponsor of the Galaxy," Friday's press statement said.

Adidas has announced an extension to its endorsement deal with NBA reigning MVP Derrick Rose.

The Chicago Bulls point guard & Adidas America confirmed the deal prior to All Star festivities this past weekend in Orlando, which is reportedly valued at more than $200 million over the next 13 years.

Mastercard renews UEFA Champions League deal

UEFA announced today that an agreement has been reached with MasterCard, one of the world's leading payment system providers, to continue as an official partner of the UEFA Champions League for the new 2012–15 cycle, and for the UEFA Super Cup in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

The three-year deal will run until the end of the 2014/15 season and will see MasterCard continue to leverage the sponsorship through its exclusive product category: payment systems.

Pantene announces beauty ambassadors ahead of London Games

P&G’s Pantene has signed 11 elite female athletes as its newest beauty ambassadors to feature in Pantene’s first global marketing campaign to support the Olympic Games.

Pantene will sponsor the athletes who demonstrate that the shampoo help them to keep their hair beautiful during the Games. This sponsorship is part of P&G’s Worldwide Olympic Partner status with the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The group of athletes will follow the list of celebrities such as Liv Tyler and Eva Mendes and Naomi Watts who featured in Pantene’s iconic campaigns.

Samsung extends title sponsorship of Samsung Diamond League

The IAAF, which commercialises the title sponsorship rights of the Samsung Diamond League, is delighted to confirm that Samsung have triggered a contractual option to continue as Title Sponsor for the 2012 season.

Samsung, which first signed as the Title Sponsor of the then ‘IAAF Diamond League’ in July 2010 for a two year contract through 2011 with an option for 2012, has gained strong exposure across the 12 markets and 14 meetings of the series, and has enjoyed worldwide exposure thanks to growing TV coverage.

The Samsung Diamond League in 2011 came close to a cumulative total of 290 Million viewers and attracted a rising spectator attendance approaching 400,000 spectators across all 14 meetings.

McDonald's extends Olympic sponsorship to 2020

US fast food chain McDonald's has signed up to sponsor the Olympics for a further eight years, meaning athletes and fans will be offered its burgers and fries in the official restaurants at Games venues until 2020.

The value of the new deal was not given but it was likely to be around $200m based on what sponsors have paid in the past. McDonald's is the seventh major company to agree to support the Games until 2020. The agreement was signed at the world youth Olympic Games in the Austrian city of Innsbruck recently.

Virgin Money has stamped its new North-East credentials on the region with its name replacing Northern Rock on the front of Newcastle United’s shirts.

The branding was unveiled as the team took on Manchester United at St James’ Park.

New rule may see more athletics sponsorships

Track and field athletes may have more opportunities to attract sponsors in future after the sport’s international governing body on Friday opened the door to more corporate logos on uniforms.

A new rule will allow two logos on an athlete’s uniform, that of the manufacturer and another sponsor, the latter a new feature that is planned to come into effect on Jan. 1, 2012.

The decision could be a huge boost in financial security for athletes.
